How I got hooked.

What's this??
Hello bloger world!
For my Composition II class one of our assignments was to create a blog and post about how certain teachnology is and has been effecting the world. One of my favorite technology devices or way of communitation is Instagram.  Instagram was introduced to me toward the end of my junior year by my best friend. She was showing me her pictures from her Instagram that she had posted and I had asked her what is that? She was shocked that I did not have my own Instagram account. Wanting to get plugged in I created my own account and joined the Instagram world. I was completely confused in the beginning trying to figure out and understand the new terms and ideas of Instagram. Some of it was easier to understand because it has a similar layout as Facebook and Twitter but some other terms I had to inquire about and figure out what they were. For example, “liking,” “Photo a day challenge” and “exploring top likes” had been a language mainly used when talking about Twitter. After a training session, taught by my friend, I slowly began to understand how Instagram worked, and then fell in love. What is Instagram, at first it was an app you can only get on your iPhone, and iPad devices until April 2012 they widened the range to Android devices which increased its users to over one-hundred million registered users. “Instagram is a free photo-sharing program and social network” where people can post pictures of either where they are, what they are doing, how to make something, and to update their “followers” on their daily lives. Insta-- what??

A picture used to be worth a thousand words, now it’s worth over one billion dollars. Pictures are used everywhere and every day to show what is happening in someone’s life, daily news, and evenly globally. They impact society’s everyday life in either a positive or negative way, they are used for ads, emotional reactions, and to update families and friends on one’s life. How can society nowadays keep in touch with their close family and friends lives other than reading hundreds of Facebook posts? Kevin Systrom and Michel Krieger envisioned an iPhone/iPad application that could do just that, in March 2010 they chose to focus their multi-featured HTML5 check-in project Burbn on mobile photography which then created Instagram. In this journal blog, Instagram will be dissected and shown how it affects our everyday lives and how it can benefit society.
